Hostels for Economically Backward Students in Thane

The three-storeyed building has been provided by the Thane Municipal Corporation for the hostel of economically backward students at Majiwada, the hostel will be inaugurated on 15th August 2018.

“This building is located on Pokhran Road 2 opposite Oswal Park, with three floors of this hostel near Urvi Park. This hostel will be started for economically backward children. There is a provision of residence for about 85 students.”

-said Mahendra Kalyankar, District Collector, Thane.

There were hostels available in the state for socially backward students and no hostels were available for economically backward students. Now the Government has decided to implement the hostel scheme and will be implemented under the supervision of the Collector.

Under the Dr Punjabrao Deshmukh Hostel Residential Allowance Scheme, students of farm workers and students with their family’s annual income of less than 8 lakh.

District Collector, Mahendra Kalyankar have urged the students to make the maximum benefit of this scheme. As the nodal officer for the matters of admission, the Principal of Govt. Polytechnics and the Social Welfare Officer will be responsible. The allowance given to students of this hostel will be credited to their bank account.

People with poor economic background are looking forward to these kinds of schemes to occur more often. As it might help them to reduce their financial burden to some extent.
