Poetry Battle Highlights

Prompt Word: Déjà vu

For the week of May 5th, 2023

Happy Monday, Nerds!!!

This week’s Poetry Battle prompt word was Déjà vu.

These last couple of weeks have felt a bit like Groundhog’s Day — you know, that movie where the main character wakes up and repeats the day over and over. I swear there’s been 65 days in a week lately!

Fun fact: I’ve never been able to finish that movie — haha!

I am sure there is a point to that movie (feel free to educate me in the comments 😉), but I didn’t have the patience to find out. That’s the beauty of television. You can shut it off.

Reality, though — that’s a whole other story! Sometimes it feels like we are stuck in this infinite loop of rinse and repeat. Day in and day out of the same thing, same routine, same mundanity.

That’s where poetry comes in.

What we do here at Move Me Poetry is nothing short of magical! We take threads in the form of words and weave them together to create stories, relatability, emotion, and a million bajillion other things.

If you missed the entire Battle thread, you can catch it here:

As for now, let’s jump into the Highlights!

Ruby writes, “What thread ties you, traveler…” And it is that phrase that inspired this week’s Poetry Battle Highlights.

Ports o call, earth, sky
Glean familiar leaning
What thread ties you, traveler
To give the quest new meaning
Runes, occults, tarots
Lead to gold begot
Springtime a heart beat’s
Winged, fluttered halt
His name sighs breath
Sun moon eclipsed
Umami dash of #déjàvu
Stolen first kiss
