What can TTRPGs teach us about society and empathy?

Tabletop Roleplaying Games (TTRPGs) have been a popular pastime for decades. From Dungeons and Dragons to Pathfinder and beyond, these games offer players a chance to step into the shoes of fantastical characters, embark on epic quests, and explore richly imagined worlds. But TTRPGs also offer something else: a unique opportunity to learn about diversity, inclusion, and cooperation in a fun, healthy, and engaging way.

In a TTRPG, players assume the role of a character with their own unique abilities, backgrounds, and motivations. This means that players must learn to communicate effectively, compromise, and support one another. In a TTRPG, there is no room for selfishness or exclusion. Everyone must work together in order to succeed.

Playing a TTRPG can be a powerful tool for learning about diversity, inclusion, and cooperation. It allows players to explore different perspectives, work together, and engage with complex issues in a safe and supportive environment. It also offers a chance for players to have fun and be creative, all while developing skills that are essential in today’s diverse and interconnected world.
