How I read over 300 Books in ONE year!

I recently published my first Medium blog entitled I read 324 books in 2021, here are my top 5! and garnered a lot of questions regarding how I managed to read and comprehend that many books. Shameless promo to go read that blog if you haven’t already. Anyways, moving on, I thought I would write to answers these questions and hopefully help others read to their hearts’ desires as well.

I should preface this by saying above all else, I love to read, in turn, much of my sprightly reading speed can be attested to this. When most people’s daydreams involve turning on the TV and lounging on the couch at the end of a seemingly perpetual day, in my fantasy, the TV is turned off and I am finally reading, and it is uninterrupted bliss.

I should add these aren’t productivity tips, so I apologize if you are a law student desperately trying to digest as much reading as you are meant to. These are for people who want to fall in love with reading the same way I did, and for those who have an overwhelming TBR and can’t wait to crack the spines of each one.

Regardless, back to what you are here for… here is how I did it.

Put down your pitchforks, I know. I get it, this isn’t for everyone. But, for me, my solace, my time alone for the day is when I can escape to whatever book I’m reading. It’s nearly therapeutic. So if for a moment while waiting for class to start or for my food to be ready I can escape into the not so crisp touch screen pages of my book, I am grateful. And so is everyone around me because I am likely a much kinder, more agreeable human being when I take this time.

This also means that when I am zoned out on my phone, seemingly answering emails or checking my calendar I am likely just reading.

If reading at every momentary pause in your day isn’t gratifying enough to convince you to open up the kindle app on your phone consider the sustainability of both the environment and your wallet. A typical paperback costs $10–20 each but this price is nearly always chopped in half when purchasing online. I do also have Kindle Unlimited which allows me to read many books at a fraction sometimes even pennies when you read as many per month as I do.
